A semi-modular analog synthesizer with vintage character and modern connectivity.
The Behringer Kobol Expander brings back the classic analog sound of the 1970s in a versatile semi-modular synthesizer. Designed as a duophonic analog synth, it features two VCOs that allow you to morph between seven different waveforms to craft your ideal tones. Expand your sound design options with the onboard LFO that has two selectable waveforms you can use to modulate parameters on external synths and modules.
Craft Vintage Tones
The two voltage-controlled oscillators in the Kobol Expander give you a wide sonic palette, with the ability to continuously blend between sine, sawtooth, triangle, square, narrow pulse, wide pulse and white noise waveforms. Sync the oscillators together or use pulse-width modulation to dramatically change the timbre and open up new possibilities. The 4-pole low-pass filter provides the natural saturation and warmth that defined the analog sound of the 1970s, letting you dial in anything from smooth and mellow to raunchy and aggressive.
Modulate External Gear With the LFO
Expand your sound design options by using the Kobol Expander's LFO to modulate parameters on external synthesizers, drum machines and Eurorack modules. The LFO has both triangle and square wave shapes to choose from. Use triangle waves for smooth, gradual modulations or square waves for more abrupt, rhythmic effects. Connect the LFO to filters, pitch, volume or any CV-controllable parameter to take your setup to the next level.
Connect Synths and Modules
The 32 patch points on the Kobol Expander make it easy to integrate with your existing Eurorack modular system or other analog synthesizers. Quickly connect cables to route audio and CV signals, sync tempo and timing and create complex modulation and signal processing chains. The possibilities are endless when you combine the Kobol Expander with your other gear.
Eurorack-Ready Design
Designed to perfectly fit standard Eurorack cases, the Kobol Expander is ideal for adding vintage analog flavor to your modular rig. Just connect the power cables to your Eurorack power supply and mount the module with the included screws. Combining the Kobol Expander with other modules gives you a one-of-a-kind synth that's greater than the sum of its parts.
