Is Sound Care just an extension of the existing manufacturer’s warranty?

No, actually it's an upgrade to your existing manufacturer’s warranty. A Sound Care offers benefits that aren't offered by manufacturers, like free shipping, nationwide. Further, a Sound Care may cover elements of your product that the manufacturer does not, like power surges, commercial use and accidental damage.

What’s the difference between a repair plan and a replacement plan?

A REPLACEMENT PLAN is available for products under $200. A check will be issued for the original purchase price plus tax once failure has been verified and is outside the manufacturer's warranty.

A REPAIR PLAN is for products over $200 and offers free repair coverage for your product any time during the life of your Sound Care contract. It also offers lots of other great benefits that you can read about elsewhere on this site and FAQ list.

How am I covered?

For the REPLACEMENT PLAN, your coverage provides for a one-time replacement of the covered product if it fails outside of the manufacturer's warranty for a period of two years.

For the REPAIR PLAN, you are covered for a period of up to five years (depending on which plan you purchase). Benefits include, among other things, parts and labor for required repairs on your product. Shipping to the authorized service center is included as well.

What is accidental from handling?

A.D.H. is the unintentional and unexpected damage that may occur while using a product for its intended use.

When does my coverage start?

For new products, your coverage begins on your date of purchase and continues for a period of two (2), three (3) or five (5) years. ADH and power surge coverage begins on the date of purchase; all other coverage begins upon the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty. For used products, your coverage begins upon the expiration of the store return policy of thirty (30) days and continues for a period of one (1) or two (2) years. Used products are not eligible for ADH coverage.

If you have difficulty with the item prior to that, just bring it to your local Music & Arts and they'll solve your problem.

What if I’ve bought a product with a limited lifetime, lifetime warranty or what if my product already has a 3-year or greater manufacturer’s warranty?

For products with a Lifetime, Limited Lifetime or a 3 Year or greater Manufacturer's Warranty, Sound Care is still a good investment. It provides many additional benefits that the manufacturer does not cover, such as, free shipping and handling, power surge, commercial usage, normal wear and tear, free transfer of coverage to a new owner, double your price guarantee, double your return privilege and most importantly, accidental damage coverage.

What’s covered that is not normally covered under a manufacturer’s warranty?

That varies by product, but in general, most manufacturers don't cover damage from accidents, commercial use, power surges and the like. Some manufacturers don't cover damage to speakers. Manufacturers also don't traditionally cover accessories like volume pedals. Some don't even cover switches, knobs, power meters, internal power supplies, pots or faders. In every case listed above, your Sound Care provides coverage.
