This new release of Samuel Barber's First Essay (1937) arranged for band by Joseph Levey includes newly discovered historical information of Barber's personal edits and revisions - including adding original music - to the arrangement prior to his approval for publication. Set in the original orchestral key, this edition has been performed by several of the most prestigious concert bands and deserves a serious look for mature groups.
