The historic 1963 Firebird V, recreated for today's guitarist.
In 1963, Gibson was interested in an aggressively modern look for a new solid-body guitar, so they turned to automotive designer Ray Dietrich. Dietrich had been responsible for both the sporty Packard Boat Tail Speedster and the iconic Checker Cab designs, so Gibson had faith that he could design a guitar that was as equally stylish and iconic. The Firebird V, with its unique offset body and reversed headstock, made rock-and-roll history from day one.
The Gibson Custom Shop proudly presents the 1963 Firebird V, a detailed and exacting replica of the renowned original instrument, correct in the contours, dimensions and construction. From the multi-piece, mahogany-and-walnut neck-through design to the deluxe banjo tuners and hot-stamped 3-ply pickguard, it's a guitar that oozes vibe.
