The 1964 SG Standard, meticulously recreated for today's guitarist.

1964 was a standout year in SG design, and the 1964 SG Standard Reissue captures it in hyper-accurate detail. In ’64, the clunky side-pull vibrato was replaced with the dependable Maestro Vibrola, the neck profiles increased in size and the balance, playability and look of the SG seemed to come into its own. Gibson Custom Shop is proud to present this meticulously recreated 1964 SG as part of their Historic Reissue family. This SG Standard Reissue has even been very lightly aged with the Murphy Lab aging process for added vintage appeal. Featuring original construction methods, a real red aniline dye finish, chemically recreated plastics and replica electronics, the result is perhaps the best looking, feeling and sounding SG Reissue to date.
