A reimagined bass guitar design from the legendary Leo Fender.
The G&L Fullerton Deluxe SB-1 bass guitar brings together Leo Fender's latest innovations with his fresh take on a classic single split-coil bass. Crafted at Leo's historic G&L factory in Fullerton, CA, the SB-1 embodies the genius of "The Father of the Electric Guitar" in an instrument made for today's bassists. With its familiar, sleekly contoured body shape, the SB-1 feels immediately comfortable in your hands. Yet Leo's subtle tweaks to the sculpting make it more ergonomic and balanced than ever.
Sleek Body Design for Playing Comfort
Subtle contours along the alder SB-1 body shape make it more streamlined and ergonomic than a traditional single-pickup bass. The smooth curves allow the bass to contour against your body comfortably. Weighing in at a portable 8 pounds, the SB-1 won't weigh you down on stage. The gloss finish comes in classic 3-tone sunburst as well as the eye-catching andromeda.
Smooth Maple Neck and Rosewood Fingerboard
The maple neck has a smooth C-shape that feels natural in your hand. Combined with the 9.5" radius rosewood fingerboard and 21 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets, you'll find it very inviting and comfortable to blaze through bass lines. The wider 1 5/8" nut also provides room to really dig in and play with authority.
Magnetic Field Design Pickup Provides Gusto and Finesse
Once you strap on the SB-1, you'll experience Leo Fender's reimagination of the classic single split-coil design. The proprietary Magnetic Field Design pickup gives you the power and growl expected from a split-coil, with added detail and tonal finesse. It allows you to cut through the mix with plenty of gusto, while retaining the crisp note articulation vital to bass playing. You get the best of both worlds - punchy low mids and clear, defined highs.
Saddle-Lock Bridge Transfers String Energy for Resonance
Another Leo Fender innovation, the SB-1's Saddle-Lock bridge is uniquely effective at transferring string energy right into the body for extraordinary resonance and sustain. You'll feel the difference, hearing each note bloom with harmonics and natural acoustic body resonance. Even at high volumes on stage, your sound remains rich, vibrant and full.
A Reimagined Classic, Handcrafted in Leo's Factory
With the SB-1 bass guitar, Leo Fender took his innovative designs for pickups and bridges and applied them to a stripped-down single pickup instrument. The result is a reimagined bass that delivers the tone and feel discerning players expect from a "Latter Day Leo" G&L. The SB-1 allows Leo Fender's genius to live on, crafted proudly by hand in his historic Fullerton, CA factory.
