Vintage bass tone for the budget-conscious bassist.
An iconic shape at an affordable price, Guild’s Starfire I bass is a modern adaptation of the traditional Starfire Bass platform, exemplifying a modern hollowbody bass. Featuring a slim body shape, an inward shifted neck and a short 30.25" scale, the Starfire I bass is a compact and accessible option for younger players, or guitarists who want more freedom on stage. A tune-o-matic bass bridge provides stable tuning with easy adjustments while a harp tailpieces adds a touch of class, likening the bass to its upright ancestors.
The bass is equipped with Guild's own BC-1 BiCoil pickup, complete with hum-resistant nickel covers and Alnico 5 magnet construction. Combined with the woody nature of a semi-hollowbody along with volume and tone controls, these pickups allow the player to dial in anything from modern, cutting bass to wooly, round, vintage sounds. A push-pull vintage switch adds extra presence when needed with rolled down low frequencies, reminiscent of the parallel pickup configuration on vintage hollowbody basses.
