Ludwig's Universal series snare in beech.
From their inception in the 1920s, Ludwig's "Universal" Series of snares were always designed to provide working drummers with options for their sound arsenal but at a price that made it even easier to expand a collection.
For 2022, Ludwig reintroduced their reimagined "Universal Series" of snare drums. Ludwig's design team consulted with today’s working drummers to create six new models that all have their own voice in any style of music. Ludwig has been an industry standard in snare drums since 1909, and the Universal Series snare drums are certainly no exception.
Beech shells have long been favored for their ability to combine the best of their maple and birch counterparts into one package—the increased attack and presence high midrange associated with maple shells while at the same time boasting an increased low-end punch that is found with birch. Truly the best of both worlds.
