A bold acoustic-electric with classic looks and modern upgrades.
The DX2E X Series rosewood dreadnought acoustic-electric guitar from Martin combines timeless style with contemporary enhancements. Crafted with a solid spruce top and high-pressure laminate rosewood back and sides, it produces the full, balanced tone dreadnoughts are revered for. The satin finish allows the spruce to vibrate freely, while the abalone rosette adds visual flair. Its slimmer neck has a fingerboard with smoothed edges for hours of fatigue-free practice and performance. Plug in its onboard Martin E-1 electronics to amplify your sound at any venue. With its fresh updates and plug-and-play versatility, the DX2E X Series dreadnought is ready to be the centerpiece of your acoustic rig.
Modernized Dreadnought Body Shape With a Full, Balanced Tone
The DX2E X Series dreadnought carries on the legacy of its forebears with a bold, projecting sound. Its spruce top and rosewood back and sides produce clear trebles, pronounced midrange and robust low-end. The body shape has been updated for contemporary playability too. A tapered lower bout allows easy access to the higher frets, while a contoured bridge creates a smooth surface for strumming. Whether you're fingerpicking or aggressively flatpicking, the DX2E delivers the balanced, driving acoustic tone that's made dreadnoughts popular for decades.
Satin-Finished Spruce Top With Elegant Rosette Offers Clear, Projecting Tone
A solid spruce top gives the DX2E X Series its clear, open voice. The tightly grained wood freely vibrates to produce bright, airy treble notes and focused midrange. Martin chose spruce for its acoustic properties that highlight each note. They left the spruce top unfinished, applying a satin treatment that allows it to resonate optimally. An abalone rosette around the soundhole provides a touch of elegance. Together, the spruce and rosette generate a vibrant tone that projects to the back of any room.
High-Pressure Laminate Back and Sides are Durable yet Resonant
The DX2E has back and sides made of resilient high-pressure laminate with an attractive rosewood finish. HPL is resistant to cracking and warping from changes in temperature and humidity compared to solid wood. The layered construction also enhances resonance for full-bodied tone. Its deep lows blend with the strong mids and crisp highs from the spruce top. The rosewood HPL back and sides give the DX2E exotic looks to match its bold voice.
Thinner Neck With Beveled Edges Improves Comfort and Playability
Martin re-engineered the neck to maximize playing ease. It's slightly narrower and thinner than a traditional acoustic neck, providing comfort for small hands. The fingerboard edges are gently beveled to reduce digging into your fingers during bends and chords. The neck is joined at the 14th fret, allowing easy access to the upper register. Combined with the smoothly contoured body, the DX2E's neck makes practice and performance more comfortable and enjoyable.
Onboard Martin E-1 Electronics for Plugged-in Amplified Tone
The DX2E X Series dreadnought comes equipped with a built-in Martin E-1 pickup system that lets you plug into an amp or PA system. It has volume, tone and phase controls to shape your amplified tone. There's even a chromatic tuner. Just plug in a 1/4" cable and you're ready to jam with your acoustic. The E-1 electronics accurately capture the DX2E's balanced tone at any volume. Let your acoustic voice be heard on stage or in the studio with the DX2E X Series.
