Hollowed-out Pangi nuts produce a deep, earthy tone.
The Pearl Pangi nut shaker is made from the seeds inside the football fruit of the Pangium tree, native to mangrove swamps in Southeast Asia. The 7” rope handle is connected to approximately 20 individually-strung Pangi nuts, each of which is about the size of a walnut and hollowed out to make the shaker. When played, the larger nuts create a deeper, earthy tone.
