We have to make music here the whole day long! Such was the enthusiastic response of Paul Hindemith when he heard the school orchestra of Plön. We start with an aubade blown from the tower, then we play a cantata in the park, table music at lunchtime and in the evening a serenade in the Knights' Hall. No. 5 of this evening music from the Plöner Musiktag is the Trio für Blockflöten. An edition was published as early as 1932 by Walter Bergmann who adapted the original phrasing and articulation to the customs of recorder playing at that time. This new edition goes back to the original version again, as recently published in the Paul Hindemith Complete Edition. The still common combination of the three recorders (Soprano, Alto-Alto or Tenor), however, has been retained unchanged.
