From the GlorySound Artist Series, choral arrangements of songs recorded by Christian artists, is Mark Hayes' arrangement of Somebody's Prayin'. It was originally recorded by Truth, with the choral version first published in 1985, and it has recently been recorded by country artist, Ricky Skaggs. With its slow and deliberate black gospel feel, Somebody's Prayin' provides an excellent opportunity to feature a soloist with the rest of the choir singing backup, or use a small group on the solo parts. It's especially suited for a soloist who can simply allow the Spirit to flow freely through music. Several rehearsals will be needed to work out rhythms and keep the voices together, but the final result will be well worth it. Powerful!
