Portable Taylor acoustic-electric guitar with Sitka spruce top, sapele back and sides and ES-B electronics.
The Taylor GS Mini is a staple of the acoustic guitar world because of its bold voice and portable, playable size. The Taylor GS Mini-e Special-Edition acoustic-electric guitar continues in that tradition with a package featuring a solid Sitka spruce top and layered sapele back and sides. This appointment combination brings a lustrous visual dimension, adding an alluring organic appeal that elevates the GS Mini’s artistic personality. Players will hear rich projection and clarity with enough power to cut through an instrument mix, making this model a great choice not just for practicing at home or on the road, but also for playing with other musicians.
Onboard ES-B electronics make plugging in easy, and with the built-in digital tuner, players will have everything they need for an inspiring playing experience. A Taylor Structured Gig Bag is included for easy portability and ultimate protection.
Body Shape
There's something undeniably inviting about the Taylor GS Mini's scaled-down size, yet a single strum reveals the impressive voice of a full-size guitar. That mix of portability and musicality has proven to be a winning combination that fits into so many scenarios in life, from the couch to the campfire to the concert hall. The shorter 23.5” scale length makes forming chords a breeze yet gives the instrument plenty of snap and tuning stability for a rewarding playing experience.
Tonewoods
Sitka spruce is one of the most prevalent guitar top woods of the modern era. It blends stiffness and elasticity in just the right proportions that translates into broad dynamic range with crisp articulation. Layered sapele back and sides create a sturdy yet receptive platform for the vibrating string energy sent by the guitar's top. Layered wood is less susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity, making it an excellent choice for players who travel with their instruments or simply require more durability. This combination of tonewoods produces a tone that is powerful and responsive to the player's musical performance.
Electronics
The GS Mini is amplified via the Expression System Basic (ES-B) system, which incorporates piezo design elements from the flagship Taylor ES2 system. It's powered by an onboard preamp that includes a built-in digital chromatic tuner, LED display for tuning and low battery indication, and Tone and Volume controls. The preamp/tuner is powered by two button cell 3v lithium (CR2032) batteries. Two new batteries will provide approximately 300 hours of use. The ES-B conserves battery life using a standard on/off system that will automatically turn off if left on for over 3 minutes. A low battery indicator on the LED display (located on the preamp circuit board) will display an “L” when the battery reaches 4.5 volts.
