The YX-500F boasts 1-5/8" Acoustalon bars, 3.5 octave rang from F45 to C88 for a wide tonal range with resonance similar to rosewood. Acoustalon is a synthetic, weather-resistant material developed by Yamaha to produce a rich, warm tone. Yamaha's YX-500F 3.5-Octave Professional Acoustalon Xylophone is the only xylophone that combines Acoustalon bars and a height-adjustable frame with locking casters for stability and portability.

The YX-500F's Acoustalon bars provide consistent tone quality across all registers of the instrument. Acoustalon's durability prevents warping or cracking in extreme temperatures, allowing for outdoor performances. The non-graduated bars produce clear, balanced notes from the lowest to highest pitch.

Yamaha designed the YX-500F for comfortable playability and portability. The instrument's height-adjustable frame can be raised from 31.5" to 37.375" high to suit players of all statures. Two of the four locking casters fix the xylophone in place during performances while still allowing for efficient transport and storage.
