A good intermediate horn.
The JBR1000M seems to be well put together with a good quality finish. All slides move well including the 3rd valve slide. The valves were initially a bit sticky straight out of the case, but after a cleaning valves and casings with isopropyl and applying valve oil (supplied), they soon came to life. It has 2 water keys (3rd and main slide) which work well with a drop of linkage oil. As I play small bore trombones mostly, I chose this 0.500" bore small-shank instrument to practice playing on valves and perhaps use it on a jazz gig. It came with a 5GB mouthpiece although I am getting a warm sound with a 6.5A. Despite having a small bore and all its twists and turns, it feels very open and doesn't require much air. I'm still trying to figure out the best position for my left hand, so won't comment on ergonomics, but the tubing looks similar that of a King 1127. Intonation seems fine so I'm pleased with my new horn.
